Driver Profiles: Brent Johnston

We want to make sure you get to know a little about all of our drivers so we have decided to continue our Driver Profile Series and focus on one of our drivers each week. This week we are meeting Brent Johnston, a drift driver who drives a 2007 Nissan 350z from Iowa. And, weirdly, has the same favorite color as Nate Hamilton who we met last week, blurple. Brent has been around racing since he was 7 months old so he has always wanted to race. He gets ready for a race by listening to music and just goes out there and has as much fun as he can because otherwise, what’s the point?

If he couldn’t drive his current car, he would drive his 13-brew swapped rx8 street car. And he has learned the hard way that drifting is not a cheap hobby which is why he wants to get better at wiring himself. His favorite mod is his untamed antics frontend tube and bash bars because they have saved his car on multiple occasions from mass destruction. Even though he has close calls like that, he thinks driving is the most fun you can have in a car and is when he is the happiest. He rated Ricky Bobby’s iconic quote “If you’re not first, you’re last” a solid 8. He definitely feels comfortable on the track but that isn’t the case with skiing as he doesn’t know how to do that. Speaking of a track, his favorite track is Usair because of how technical it is; he feels like he is on a rollercoaster during the transition changes.

If he was on a deserted island with a track, he would bring his car and a bunch of Accelera 651s (smart choice, Brent). He wants to be the best driver he can be and always continue to push himself as hopes to eventually teach other people how to drift. Check out Brent’s setup here. And don’t forget to check back next week for our next driver profile when we introduce Fernando Dahbura.
